Risshu (the start of autumn) is one of the 24 solar terms, and according to the calendar, autumn begins on this day.
It usually falls around August 7, and although the heat continues to be intense in modern times, you can gradually feel the approach of autumn in the height of the sky and the lightness of the wind. As dusk falls earlier, you can hear the sounds of insects in a moment of pause, reminding you of the changing seasons.
This is also a good time to send a card to someone who is still suffering from the lingering heat of summer.
The 24 Solar Terms series from Akkeshi Distillery has reached its 20th installment, marking the final chapter. The label features a depiction of incense fireworks.
Within the brief yet beautiful moment of the incense fireworks, memories of the previous solar terms seem to fade away, as if heading toward the final moment. The design evokes a sense of fragility, sweetness, and warmth.
“The waning moon quietly bids farewell to summer, reflecting on the surface of Lake Akkeshi,
as the Perseid meteor shower dances across the night sky.
The aged Akkeshi malt,
wrapped in a soft citrus aroma,
is made from Hokkaido-produced Mizunara oak barrels.
Enjoy the opening of the final chapter of the 24 Solar Terms series.”
